Do you want to be truly happy?

A good friend of mine, Katrina tagged me her notes about happiness. I loved this article by Bo Sanchez. Have fun reading.

       Be kind.

Let me tell you a story.

One day, a plane hit a storm and was about to crash. The problem was there were 4 passengers and only 3 parachutes.

The first man took one parachute and said, “I’m a brain surgeon and my patients need me.” And he jumped off the plane.

The second man took the second parachute and said, “I’m a rocket scientist, one of the smartest men in the entire planet, and the world needs me. And he jumped off the plane.

The third man was Pope Benedict. He took the last remaining parachute and gave it to the fourth person who was a young boy. The Pope said, “Son, I’m an old man. I’ve served God enough. Go ahead and take this last parachute.”

The young boy smiled, “Your Holiness, it’s okay. There are still two parachutes left. The rocket scientist, the smartest man on the entire planet, jumped out with my backpack.”

Lesson?

The Pope won because he was kind.

The Rocket Scientist lost because he was not kind.

Kind people, at the end of the day, will always win.

Please see http://bosanchez.ph/are-you-known-by-your-kindness/ for the complete article 🙂

Happiness to feel it, means you have to do kindness. Or something that you know it would make you happy. Whatever that may be, I hope that it would not cause harm to others but instead, it would make others feel that happiness. They say that the greatest love and happiness that you can give to someone is sacrificing your own happiness at the expense of others.

Are you looking for a career in the Call Center Industry?

Are you looking for a career in the Call Center Industry? If your answer is yes,  you need to be familiar with some basic terms. An Inbound account is when customers call your center and makes inquiries, An Outbound account on the other hand is when you make the call to customers. Inbound accounts can be: a telecommunications account, finance, sales, order taking, order tracking and technical support. An outbound account can be collections, sales or something about surveys and jobhunting. Other terms also are the voiced and non-voiced; voiced can be Inbound and Outbound accounts or when you need to speak to someone over the phone. Non-voiced are through chat or email. Here in Manila we have a lot of call centers that has job openings almost everyday. Most interviews are questions about your previous call center experience (if you have any) or something personal.

But first things first, you need to make sure that your accent is neutral. Meaning, you can enunciate and pronounce the English words without noticing the Filipino accent. You can use the Merriam-Websters dictionary for the right pronouncement of words. I found a website that you can use to help you out: http://www.scribd.com/doc/4018113/Speech-Training this was prepared by Winkie Roasa.

1. Tell me something about yourself.

For this question, you do not need to say your name or any personal details, you need to research on the company you are applying and think of something interesting about you or activities that you do and try to incorporate that with the company.

2. I see you’ve work with…

You need to make sure that you start with your previous company. Be specific. Tell the name of the company, the date you started and the type of job that you do.

3. Situations…

The questions asked are mostly situational, this helps the interviewer determine how well versed you are with the English language. You need to be spontaneous all throughout the conversation, be ready to give situations and how you where able to arrive a solution. They ask these questions to be able to see if you are a teamplayer.

Teamwork plays an important role in the call center industry. For every situation your answers need to be organized:

– provide a situation you were involved in.

– give the details, step by step procedure of what you did.

– give the outcome of the situation, what you did (of course you need to make sure that it turned out well, and if it didn’t you need to provide details what steps you made and how it went well)

I can give a couple more tips on how to answer questions for your call center job interview but the most important thing is you need to know your grammar and pronunciation first. This is the fist step for you to ace that job interview. Hope this helps.

Bea’s Flores de Mayo 2011

” Dear God, Thank you for not letting Heavy Rains fall tonight…for sparing Manila from the earthquake…for not letting the World end today…you have made my Daughter’s night at the ‘Flores de Mayo’ something she will always remember…Her sweet smile tells me it was all worth it…Bless everybody who helped us…her friends, our Family…Thank you. “

This quote was my Facebook shoutout. I guess I have made one of my daugther’s dreams come true tonight. Bea wore a small crown and a long Violet gown with a Baby Pink Mark & Spencer Shoes (1 in. heals so that she wouldn’t have a hard time walking). She was very pretty with an elegant make-up thanks to a good friend of mine Marjorie. Marjorie’s salon is at Honeyz along Evangelista Street in Santolan Pasig. The her make-up cost Php 350.00 including her hair which was neatly curled and tied-up.   Marjorie and I decided to put fake eyelashes on her cute round eyes and we put a small amount of star apple sap to use as a glue on her false eyelashes. Marjorie said that the sap binds the eyelashes on her eyes. My daughter said it was a bit itchy but right after the procession, there were no rashes on her eyes. So which means that the sap was effective.

Bea wore a Violet Janet formal gown from Patrick’s Bridal Boutique – Located at Pasilio B-47 Yangco Market, Divisoria Manila. Mariel is our contact person. So if you’re interested that’s where you can find her.  My son Jireih is the escort, we bought his Barong for Php 350.00 at Crisalna Bridal Boutique located at Pasilio W-14 2/F Cluster II bldg. Tutuban Mall in Divisoria.  You can look for Ate Naty for her made to order Gowns.   During the “Flores de Mayo” season gowns have higher prices so It’s best to purchase it at an earlier date like a month or two. Mariel said that the peak season are usually December, January, February, April…October and November because of the Bridal Gowns and gowns for the entourage too. You’ll find Patrick’s Bridal Boutique along Tabora Street in Divisoria and Crisalna’s at the Tutuban Mall, cluster II Bldg.

The Flores de Mayo where my daughter joins with was sponsored by the Cooperative of Santolan. They have certificates, bouquet of flowers and lights for the group of people participating so the expenses that will come from our own pockets are the gowns that the girls are wearing and the Hair and Make-up. My Sister Jane and her Husband Nico prepared a small meal for Bea’s friends who participated in the event.

It was a dream come true for Bea. She likes to play with my heeled shoes and bags and she sometimes wear make-up on her face. If you can only see her glowing smile tonight. You’d also say that it was definitely worth it.

Whew! summer…

It’s been a long time since I posted my daily activities. I’ve been through a couple of ups and downs with work so I decided to just quit my job. After that me and my sister made a few activities for my kids and my niece. Kids nowadays are easily bored at home. Times have changed…Moms need to be a little bit creative and understanding for their kids…so, here are samples of cool and affordable summer activities for our kids 🙂

1. My Children have been Members of the McDonald’s kiddie crew since 2009. You can ask full details at any Mcdonald’s store near you. That is good for 5 days, 2 hours either in the morning or the afternoons.  It includes a McDo tshirt (for a limited stock only) a small bag, ID (you need to put in a 1×1 pic) and a mug. The Items I mentioned are for this year’s summer activities. I highly recommend the McDonald’s Santolan Pasig Branch. They’ve got drive-thru’s  which the kids really like to be assigned to. And the People are really nice and friendly too.

2. Summer Classes – The Dunwoody School offers free summer reading classes for their enrollees this school year and it’s for free. Classes starts from 8am to 10:20am m-w-f. The summer class includes writing, reading and music. You can check out your children’s school for any activities or remedial classes they may offer…Make the most out of it 🙂

3. Involve kids to church activities. The local Parochial church here at Santolan Pasig have activies that kids can join in, like the Legion of Mary for example, and the since it’s the holy week, we also have the ‘kalampag’ where kids join in the procession of saints and they use a musical instrument made of wood to call out people and let them know that a procession is coming. The procession dates are Holy Wednesday, Good Friday and Easter Sunday; Or you can also check you Parochial Church for any activities they may have. You could also join your kids to the local church choir.

4. We have a cooperative in Pasig and they offer summer activities for kids, My daughter is joining the ‘Flores de Mayo’ . I’ll spare the details of the activities on my next blog.

5. Plan a swimming party at home. If you have a small space for a small inflatable pool this is a perfect inexpensive summer activities. Invite a couple of you neighbors kids and prepare orange juice or Iced Tea with sandwiches and you guys are good to go. Some of my neighbors don’t offer food anymore, cause water is quite expensive nowadays. Your kids will love it, no entrance fees, no transportation allowance, no exposure to summer diseases.

6. Visit relatives in the province. Summer is a great way to visit Lolo’s and Lola’s in the provinces. It let’s them be closer to their families roots and meet relatives. The cost of travel depends on how far the province is. But it serves as a special bonding moment too you know.

7. Let the kids play. If you think you have a safe neighborhood let them play with the neighbors kids. Let them run on the sidewalks but you have to keep an eye on them of course, you can do this in the afternoons at 3pm until 5:30pm, have lots of water and a hand towel. It is a great time to turn off your appliances at home serves as a great time to save electricity too.

8. Let them clean their ‘kalat’. Summer vacation is a great time to learn household chores. Let them sweep the floors, prepare the table and clean their beds 😉 give assigned tasks every now and then.

There are several different ways of letting your kids spend their summer vacation without spending too much. Instead of spending a lot of money, you can save it for school’s enrollment…you can check out other websites for other cool summer activities for kids 🙂

my pre-Valentine’s syndrome

It’s Valentine’s Day on monday. But I haven’t experienced having a date. It had been 7 years since then and I have forgotten what it really feels to meet someone who likes you. I do wonder what that feels now. I’m 35 years old and had been separated for 7 years and life has been simple and yes at times, lonely. But, year after year I’ve got my kids for Valentines 🙂 For now it’s me and the waiting game. And I hope that next year will be the most unforgettable Valentine’s ever…
